Our products

Almondco’s secret to its success is its commitment to quality.

The discerning buyer who recognises the advantages in using premium products to generate repeat business is automatically drawn to the Almondco story.

The Almondco range of standard specifications exceed the widely used USDA specifications and are an integral part of why the Almondco “white box” stands out in a crowded market.

The hard-won reputation takes a bit more care and sometimes, a bit more time from our growers and our team at the factory, but the results are worth it.

It is all about creating a beauty, a point of difference, that appeals to the consumer’s eye.

HISTORY

Almondco was founded by the pioneering families of the Australian almond industry in 1944. What started out as a co-operative of likeminded growers in the southern vales of Adelaide has become a powerhouse on the world stage, renowned for producing some of the highest quality product.
This reputation has been forged by the mutual understanding between growers and processors alike that a high quality offering will fetch a premium in a market dominated by Californian almonds.

More than 150 growers now supply Almondco across four growing districts – the Riverina, NSW, the Murray Valley, between Swan Hill and Mildura, the Riverland of South Australia, Northern Adelaide Plains and the Swan Region in Western Australia.

About 50% of all product received is the nonpareil variety, with the pollinator variety, carmel, representing about 30% of the annual intake.

The company has devised specifications that ensure product is packed to much higher levels than what is considered standardised practice. As a result the company continues to attract the quality conscious customer who understands the value of a premium offering.

Testimonials

Don Pearce - Almondco Grower - Chaffey, SA

“I think Almondco set the pace, the cleanliness of the place is like a hospital…“I think it has to be run like that, you’re dealing with big exporters, it has to be a perfect product. Others are going that way but I think Almondco set the pace, without a doubt.”

Jim Pearson - Almodco Grower - Virginia, SA

“Right from when we started, Almondco has been a huge part of our business. It’s a major arm of what we do, we grow it, process it, and Almondco is the marketing part of our operation. It’s one thing to grow it, to market it effectively is another. The fact it is owned by growers is absolutely important to us.”
